Aurelia

Another lament
and it is time
to more than dream
your metamorphosis
to more than find
your hysteresis
to more than bind
your Polyphemus
to escape the blindness
of sleeping Rhesus
of your own cave
your own cast
your cocoon.

I came here by way of K.Lawson-Gilbert's site. I have been thinking mythology, too. I wonder if it's this long winter (our test?) that we must survive.

I love your use of "more than" here -- time to more than dream, more than find, more than bind...

I like the whole poem!

Thank you Karen. Winter always represents a struggle to me, and the stark beauty found within the season of death leading to rebirth. The mythology/allegory seemed a good way to accentuate that reality, as well as provide entry into other mythic examples of heroism and associated tragedy.
