Soft Confetti

Momentary euphoria
aspens
birch
oak and beech
letting go
soft confetti
silently
undressing without pretense
because they must.

They will stand, naked.

Can't catch them anymore
or keep them off my floor
resigned to their piling up
at my feet
primary colors shouting
the end
while we exit the garden
aware of our nakedness
and covering ourselves
with leaves.

Appears in Festival of the Trees #30.

This is another beautiful poem! I love the soft voice, whisper-like. I love the confetti falling, the names of the trees. The ending is so powerful, and I also love "Silently/undressing without pretense/ because they must." A wonderful poem!

It's been awhile since I dropped by but its such a treat to read to something beautiful and philosophical at the same time. You so made my day :)

I love the image transition from openness --sensual image of confetti falling (like silk robes slipping off shoulders) and then on to the garden of eden touch in the ending. Wonderful work. ignorance is bliss :)

Rax has said it well so I'll ride in on her comment! A delicate but powerful piece.

PS I have a tree poem over at the Patteran Pages, which I've also submitted to the Festival of the Trees - http://festivalofthetrees.wordpress.com/ You might do the same.

Ditto to what Julie and Rax said. ;)

I really like the progression of the poem, how the ending 'goes back' to the beginning of the poem (making the poem 'tight'). Cheers.
